Castillo de Moraira
This 18th-century castle, once built to defend against pirates, stands proudly on Playa de l'Ampolla. As well as a lovely view over the sea, it gives you a piece of the town's history.
Mercado de Moraira
Every Friday the town comes alive with the weekly market: fresh fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, olive oil and handmade things. A perfect place to taste the real Spain. Small tip — you are welcome to try the olives, but you will be given an enormous quantity. Taking a bit of everything costs a fortune, so be clear about how much you actually want.
The harbour
The charming fishing harbour is still working. Watch the colourful boats bringing in the day's catch, then finish with lunch at one of the little waterside restaurants. We rate Club Nautico highly.

Playa del Portet
Without question Moraira's most iconic beach. Calm turquoise water and soft sand make it ideal for families and for watersports. Ibiza in feel, but without the crowds.
Playa de l'Ampolla
Right beside the centre, this is Moraira's largest beach — perfect for a day of sun, swimming and sandcastles. The promenade has plenty of bars for something cold.
Cala Andrago
A small rocky cove with crystal-clear water, ideal for snorkelling or simply taking in the view. Tip: the restaurant Algas here has a wonderful terrace.

We are keen on watersports ourselves. If you anchor here with your boat, or tie up to a buoy, a little boat comes past selling cocktails and snacks. How good is that?

Walk up to the old watchtower at the top of this headland and you are rewarded with panoramic views along the coast. A perfect spot for sunset.
The vineyards of Teulada
The surrounding hills are dotted with vineyards producing the well-known Moscatel. A visit to a bodega is a must. We are fans of Montesanco, which sells a Bobal ranked among the top 1% of wines in the world.
Cova de les Cendres
A remarkable cave reached by an adventurous walk or a kayak trip. The water is so clear you can see the bottom.

If you dream of panoramic views, Benimeit is the place. It sits a little higher in the hills, so many of the villas look out over the Mediterranean and the surrounding vineyards. Quiet and private.

Sought after for being close to both the centre and the harbour while still being quiet and exclusive. It combines the best of both.
One thing to know: Moraira is the priciest town on the Costa Blanca
Moraira is beautiful, but it is the most expensive town on the Costa Blanca. If that is beyond what you want to spend but you still want comparable views, Benissa, Teulada and Benitachell are worth considering.

Eating and drinking in Moraira is an event in itself. From fresh fish and seafood to tapas and good wine, there is something for everyone.
Amantes de Moraira
Excellent food and a spectacular view over the sea. Perfect for a long lunch or a warm evening, and there is often live music. Don't expect Spanish prices, though.
Saga
Close to the beach, with the sea in front of you from the terrace. They often run good offers out of season, and it is decent value. The owner is Dutch.
La Bonita
A cosy wine bar with tapas in the centre. A good bet for a relaxed evening out.
